My Irrational Fear
Thanks to David for issuing a challenge to write about irrational fears!
I’m not sure what I’ve got is an actual fear, as such, but I have strong distain and feel very uncomfortable in busy stores.
By “busy” I don’t necessarily mean the number of people - although that doesn’t help.
I am referring to the sensory overload that comes with the manner in which products are displayed.
If I’m to be specific, the store that ‘triggers’ me is Dunelm.
It’s a home furnishing store, and from the moment you step inside you are bombarded with colour and smells and tightly packed aisles, with all sorts of trinkets designed to make home living better. Really?
I can’t stand it. All the duvets and pillows, sheets, blankets, rugs and everything you think you need, but don’t.
The various designs assaulting the senses.
Seriously.
This is my irrational fear and whenever the opportunity presents itself to visit, I politely turn it down!
Do you have any fears that seem irrational?
