Kings Lynn
Actually, I’ve written this to maintain my Blaugust streak, but since I’m on holiday, and nothing much of note has happened, I write this whilst I’m sitting next to the River Ouse in Kings Lynn.
From Wikipedia:
King's Lynn, known until 1537 as Bishop's Lynn and colloquially as Lynn,is a port and market town in the borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk in the county of Norfolk, England. It is 36 miles (58 km) north-east of Peterborough, 44 miles (71 km) north-north-east of Cambridge, 44 miles (71 km) west of Norwich, and about 5 miles (8 km) inland from The Wash estuary.
It’s a pretty town, steeped in history and we walked around the historic areas; amazed at the age of some of the buildings and the stories they tell.
I’m a sucker for history although I remember, as a child, always complaining when my dad used to say we were going to look “at the old parts!”
I’ve turned into my dad!!
It’s great learning about various aspects of our history and how it shaped a nation.
History, of course, is never ending. There’s always something to look back on, either with wonder, fondness or regret.
This has now inspired me to another post tomorrow - you’ll have to check back then.
