Home Cooking
I am not a great cook. I dabble in the kitchen, but I do like to do my bit - usually it's doing the washing up, but a few years ago I decided I would take the bull by the horns, so-to-speak, roll up my sleeves, don the apron and get cooking.
To make this happen, I signed up for a meal-in-a-box service.
Currently, it's Gousto. Each Monday a delivery arrives with all the ingredients I need to prepare 2 meals (for either 2 or 3 people).
I know it's not the cheapest way to do it; but it is mightily convenient.
I also know that if I had to go shopping myself, it would never happen.
The selection of meals is varied, and changes week by week, so there's usually something fresh.
When I started this, I was worried that the 'kids' wouldn't enjoy it; but it became apparent they loved it - their plates were empty and they always say how much they enjoy it.
Of course, there are times when I may make a bad choice and I remember not to order it again.
Once the ingredients are unpacked, and put away, I review the recipe card that contains all the 'instructions' for preparing the meal.
Over time I've become more confident and am much quicker at the preparation.
Some meals are quite complex to put together; more around the timing than anything else, but I've persevered and we have a good time.
Of course, whilst I try and keep the kitchen tidy, as I go along, it usually befalls on me to do the final clearing up too!
Do you do the cooking? Have you used one of the meal-in-a-box services?
You can try Gousto yourself and get 65% off your first box + 25% off your first two months, at this link.
Full disclosure, I will also get £20 credited to my Gousto account when you receive your fist box.
