Bank Holiday

It’s amazing.

It’s a Bank Holiday and the weather has been perfect.

The term "bank holiday" refers to the fact that banking institutions typically close for business on such holidays, as they once did on certain saint's days. [Wikipedia]

In the past it has often been the case that a public holiday results in poor weather; rain, wind, clouds - you know the kind of thing, and we’re stuck indoors!!

Not today 🎉

This August Bank Holiday is actually a summers day. Blue sky, sunshine and very warm.

Of course, whilst it is seasonal, I put this down to climate change and, in a report I read earlier, it’s only going to get ‘worse’!

Temperatures are rising and there is going to be less rain in the summer months, which is not good for the land.

As I sit outside, in the garden, at the moment the lawn is looking rather lush, but there are some brown areas, where the sun is drying it out.

There is also a gentle breeze, keeping the temperature down, but it’s still very warm.

I love the summer. Most people do.

In the future we need to be better prepared to handle water shortages as well as longer terms of heat.
