A Day Out
Summer is coming to an end, but with the last vestiges of sun and a clear morning, we headed to Skipton.
According to Wikipedia:
Skipton (also known as Skipton-in-Craven) is a market town and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. Historically in the East Division of Staincliffe Wapentake in the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is on the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal to the south of the Yorkshire Dales.
It is situated 27 miles (43 km) north-west of Leeds and 38 miles (61 km) west of York.
The town has been listed as one of the best and happiest places to live in the UK.
The canal was the reason for our visit, as we climbed aboard a narrowboat for a trip down the Leeds - Liverpool canal.
Later we grabbed a quick bite to eat in a charming café and then had a wander around the town and a brief look at the castle.
Unfortunately, the weather finally decided to break and we headed home.
It was a lovely day out.
